- useful things mixed groups of devs/documenters can do
- LDCX 2017
- Fedora API Specification issues
- ... (feel free to add agenda items)
Pre-meeting announcement: Nick will be away for the next four calls, so Danny will chair. Nick will continue with listserv updates.
Melissa: Looking at the Islandoracon Hackfest as a way to both introduce CLAW (MVP style) to the community and to recruit more contributors. Some preliminary planning documents for the Hackfest are up.
Diego & Jared: Drupal 8 starter module might be a way. Jared spends a lot of time in Drupal 8 just figuring out where things are.
Danny: Might look at things that are missing from the MVP. Also, building a CLAW-version of the Porcus Training module might be good.
Diego: would like to provide a skeleton project for people, so they don't start from scratch.
Nick: Have to be mindful of how much we can plan in advance versus what we'll do the day of. We have a very limited number of experts to share among groups. Liked DPLA hackfest where everyone introduced themselves and their skills before the hackfest
Melissa: We do hope to divide up our experts and make sure hackfest groups are well mixed. Projects need to be something that non-devs can make a meaningful contribution to, so we can't go too deep into the stack.
Diego: Can their be projects on 7.x stack as well?
Melissa: That has yet to be determined. The hackfest committee is still considering what approach will work best. For now, please share ideas and add names to the hackfest spreadsheet.
Invite-only event happening in two weeks at Stanford. Nick is going, but on behalf of his research, not Islandora, so no CLAW stuff. Wondering if anyone else is going.
Diego may also attend.
Nick: Still ongoing. Still looking for feedback. See link for issues. The Future of CLAW is the future of Fedora.
Danny: Currently working with the specification, which means working around some things in the reference implementation, because they are not the same. So, we're ok with it from the CLAW for now, but if there is something that users really need from Fedora and it gets written out of the Fedora spec, then now is the time to make sure it stays! Participate and protect your use case.
Nick: there's a regular meeting on Fridays looking at the gaps between the implementation and the specification, so the existing Fedora can be the reference implantation once the specification is finalized.
