Fixes #17011

Problem

Two AcpAdapterV2 teardown tests fake processGroupPlatform: "win32" but still depend on the real host platform, so both fail when the suite runs on a Windows host.

  • "Windows teardown is one-shot explicitly with independent finalizer cleanup" fails with expected 2 to equal 1. The scope finalizer is meant to be independent of the cached explicit teardown. It picks its kill method from HostProcessPlatform, so on a Windows host it calls the stubbed taskkill a second time. On Linux it sends SIGKILL instead, and the count stays 1.
  • "poisons the session when hard teardown defects and blocks replacement work" depends on the mock agent's bash -c 'sleep 120 & …' fixture writing host PIDs. On Windows:
    • With Git Bash first on PATH, $$/$! are MSYS PIDs (for example 41199 is Windows PID 17276), so process.kill(pid, 0) never sees them. The test fails with declared failed-teardown Bash and sleep PIDs must both become live.
    • With WSL's bash.exe first on PATH (the default from PowerShell, where sleep is not found), the PID file is never written and the test hangs until it times out. Each failed run also left an orphaned acp-mock-agent.ts node process.

Change

Test-only, along the lines suggested in the #17011 triage:

  • Test 1: the final assertion expects the finalizer's extra taskkill only on a Windows host, and checks that it repeats the same command. On Linux the assertion is unchanged.
  • Test 2: adds the Linux-host guard (if ((yield* HostProcessPlatform) !== "linux") return;) that this file already uses for its other real-process fixture tests.

Scope and approval

#17011 is a triaged issue. This takes the test-only fixes proposed there and touches only AcpAdapterV2.test.ts.

Verification

On Windows 11 (Node 25, pnpm 11.10.0), from apps/server:

  • Before:
    • Test 1 failed with expected 2 to equal 1.
    • Test 2 failed after 7.75s from Git Bash (… PIDs must both become live), and hung until the 120s timeout from PowerShell.
  • After: vp test run src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/AcpAdapterV2.test.ts -t "Windows teardown is one-shot|poisons the session when hard teardown" gives 2 passed, with no orphaned processes.
  • vp fmt --check is clean. vp lint reports only existing warnings on lines this diff doesn't touch, and the server typecheck passes.
  • Not run on Linux. The changes leave Linux behavior as it was: test 1 asserts the same count there, and test 2 still runs there.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Fixes pingdotgg#17011. Two AcpAdapterV2 tests fake processGroupPlatform "win32"
but still depend on the real host platform, so they fail on Windows.

"Windows teardown is one-shot explicitly with independent finalizer
cleanup": the runtime's scope finalizer is deliberately independent of
the cached explicit teardown and picks its kill path from
HostProcessPlatform. On a Windows host it calls taskkill through the
stubbed spawner a second time, so the final count is 2, not 1. On Linux
it sends SIGKILL instead. The assertion now expects the finalizer's
extra taskkill only on a Windows host, so Linux runs are unchanged.

"poisons the session when hard teardown defects and blocks replacement
work": the mock agent's running-command fixture runs `bash -c 'sleep
120 & ...'` and publishes $$/$! as host PIDs. With Git Bash those are
MSYS PIDs, so process.kill(pid, 0) never sees them. With WSL's bash.exe
first on PATH, the Windows temp path never receives the PID file, and
the test hangs until its timeout. It now uses the same Linux-host guard
as the other real-process fixture tests in this file.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at da71433

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a small, self-contained test-only portability fix confined to an ignored test path. Its changes affect test assertions and platform-specific fixture execution, with no production runtime or product-default impact.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The teardown tests now account for host-platform differences. The Windows test checks the finalizer’s taskkill invocation. The hard-teardown-defect test runs only on Linux.

On non-Linux hosts, this test appears to pass without exercising hard-teardown behavior, which can mislead test results. The impact is limited to test reporting; runtime teardown is unchanged.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/AcpAdapterV2.test.ts: The teardown test now expects the finalizer’s kill path to depend on the host platform: one total taskkill call on non-Windows hosts and two on Windows, with the final command matching the first. Previously, it expected exactly one call in every case.
