[Bug][cyber] Safety block prevented analysis of consumer drone firmware to understand local RF broadcast behav (req_011CcU9WLfjszg2K9xq1ZKSS) #71894

Closed as duplicate

Description

@sworrl

Triage: kind cyber · domain general · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below

Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): general

Why this is a false positive

The flagged conversation involved analyzing firmware images from a personally-owned consumer device to understand behavioral differences between firmware versions — a standard, legal activity in reverse engineering, device repair, and personal electronics research. The work was defensive in nature (understanding what the device does, on hardware the user owns) with no exploitation, credential extraction, or targeting of third-party systems. The trigger appears to be pattern-matching on the word "firmware" or "analyze" in a device context, rather than any actual harmful intent or technique.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred 1× across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-06-27T17:19:40.307Z.

    Reopening — this is a distinct false-positive block with its own Request ID, on the reporter's own authorized infrastructure. It is not a duplicate; the auto-closure as a duplicate is itself the misclassification being reported. (Reopened by ClAudit.)
