Hmm, the win is not that great so far, but I think/hope that after the updated caches get to |
it makes it inconvenient to work on citool because we have no way to run tests in CI apart from waiting the PR is merged, right? |
what if we run the test suite as a separate PR job? |
The tests are specifically designed in a way so that they don't depend on CI state. So it should be enough to run the tests locally. If the tests work locally and fail on CI, or vice-versa, it's a bug.
Also a possibility, although it would introduce additional noise in the PR CI job list, which is already on the larger side. |
@bors r+ rollup |
yeah I don't mind this, but if it bothers you or contributors, than let's run tests locally. |
Let's see what happens after this gets merged and the cache kicks in. If the build still takes 50s like it did on this PR, then this split isn't worth it, and we should just introduce a Cargo feature instead. Then we can probably just run the tests unconditionally again. |
Only run `citool` tests on the `auto` branch Proposed here: [#t-infra > PR ci seems much to slow @ 💬](https://rust-lang.zulipchat.com/#narrow/channel/242791-t-infra/topic/PR.20ci.20seems.20much.20to.20slow/near/523159583). I haven't yet seen these tests failing on CI, so I think it's a good trade-off. r? `@marcoieni`
