Remote participation

There are a number of different communication channels for the hackathon. For all-hands sessions, we will use webex for audio + video + screen sharing. Within each subgroup, participants will decide on the best method of communication for their group. This might be a combination of IRC, G+ hangouts, Skype, etc.

Remote folks: Please have a headset when you connect to audio meetings (webex, skype, G+, etc). This makes the experience much better for everyone. If there is too much background noise, we will mute you!

##Webex On Day 1, we will be using webex to share presentations and connect remote participants. We will also create webex meetings for the daily reporting sessions. The webex meetings will allow audio connection via VoIP only (i.e. using your computer microphone and speakers). There is no dial-in number.

##IRC We maintain the #opentreeoflife chat (IRC) channel on Freenode. Clicking the button below will join the channel as user guest, using the web-based KiwiIRC client. It is a logged channel. Expect there to be quite a bit of chatter over IRC during the event. This is the primary mode of communication for the opentree software folks.
