I like the blue dot, but I'd probably shrink it down to 4px and adjust the offset so it nests nicely in the button footprint: 
To be honest my expectation was that this button would only reset the appearance options (since it lives in that UI), not the filters as well. |

The filters are also persisted though, the best resets the full view and this behavior was not changed in this PR. |

The Reset button in the filter UI only resets the filters. So it feels inconsistent/unexpected that the Reset button in the Appearance UI resets appearance options and filters. The current behavior would make more sense if all aspects of the view (including filters and layout) could be modified in the popover, but obviously that's a bigger change. It might be worth considering though, because the popover is already beginning to feel quite clunky to use in views with lots of properties. 
I we don't want to commit to that then I agree with Nik, the button label should be more explicit. |

I agree overall. I'm fine exploring that but yeah it probably needs some design work and probably needs to happen separately. For the current PR I see two options:

We definitely need to find a path to land this PR before beta. One question: if we merge this mostly as-is, how possible/feasible/reasonable is it to come back and iterate this? Experience tells me it's nearly always possible, so only asking if this is locking us into a particular direction or not, on the code level. |

For the immediate improvement, I lean on reset the appearance options and update the label to "reset view". I second Joen's idea of leaving room for improving it and expand it to include more settings in the reset action. In that vein, I don't see a strong reason for why the reset action includes the layout if this control only changes the visual hierarchy of fields instead of showing/hiding some. |

Agree. Update label to be more explicit and merge. Then as a future enhancement explore bringing all view config options (including filters) into the popover, and consider migrating the UI to an inspector panel rather than a popover. |

Adds a new `onReset` prop to the DataViews component that enables a centralized Reset button in the view config dropdown. This replaces the ad-hoc reset buttons previously scattered across consumer pages. The current design personally looks better to me but I can revert the "full width" thing to avoid the unexpected change. |

This would have a lot of impacts (We'd need to support user color profiles ... which is currently broken if you use ui package in places where ThemeProvider is not setup properly.
cc @aduth as we discussed this elsewhere, see how this seemingly naive suggestion would have broken things.
