Installing Frameworks

stairman06 edited this page Mar 20, 2020 · 1 revision

Want to make a Modpack? You’ll need a Framework, or sometimes referred to as a Modloader. These allow Mods to be loaded into the Minecraft game and used.

How to Install

  • Begin Editing your profile
  • Select the "Versions" tab
  • You'll see Frameworks listed underneath the Minecraft Version
  • Select "Install" underneath the name of the Framework
  • You'll then be presented with a dialog asking which Install Mode you'd like
    • "Simple Install" installs the latest version of the framework
    • "Advanced Install" allows you to choose the version you'd like

How do I know which Framework to use?

Currently, the most common Framework is by far Forge. Most mods are Forge mods. However, Fabric is an up-and-coming Framework designed with modern, efficient technology in mind. Fabric mods are mostly lightweight, Vanilla+ style mods, while Forge mods are more advanced.

How do I update a framework?

Simply uninstall and reinstall the framework.
