rescued stash: fix-9300-merge-main: WhatsApp adapter work from fix-9300-merge-main branch #14088

Description

@mrveiss

Child of #14078. The work is safe — it is now a branch on origin, not only a stash entry.

Branch rescued/stash-2026-06-04-5d317d187
Stash commit 5d317d1873725d022f8c5fc8f71467e3155dfca3
Stashed 2026-06-04
Change 3 files changed, 5 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-)
Applies to current base REVIVABLE
Original context fix-9300-merge-main: WhatsApp adapter work from fix-9300-merge-main branch

Files touched:

  • autobot-backend/initialization/router_registry/core_routers.py
  • autobot-backend/services/gateway/channel_adapters/__init__.py
  • autobot-backend/services/gateway/types.py

Why this exists: the repo-wide stash stack held 113 entries spanning three months, unowned and
unlinked. This one's content is absent from Dev_new_gui — verified by git apply --check --3way
— so it is genuinely unfinished work, not a leftover of something that already landed.

Ask — a decision, not a deletion:

  1. Is this work still wanted? The original context above names where it came from.
  2. Wanted → rebase rescued/stash-2026-06-04-5d317d187 onto Dev_new_gui, open a PR, land it.
  3. Not wanted → say so here with the reason, then delete the branch. A recorded decision, never a
    silent drop.

    Disposition: SUPERSEDED

Three files. Two are WhatsApp channel wiring, one is a temporary regression.

    Hunk Verdict Evidence
services/gateway/channel_adapters/__init__.py — export WhatsAppAdapter SUPERSEDED the WhatsApp adapter lives at services/gateway/adapters/whatsapp_adapter.py, added by 5b61405896 feat(gateway): unified multi-platform message gateway (#4340), 2026-04-13 — seven weeks before this stash. The stash was wiring it into the wrong package
services/gateway/types.py — add ChannelType.WHATSAPP SUPERSEDED the same gateway work carries its own channel typing; base also ships api/whatsapp.py, integrations/whatsapp_integration.py, services/whatsapp_service.py
initialization/router_registry/core_routers.py — comment out the transcriber router "module doesn't exist yet" OBSOLETE — it was a workaround, and the module now exists base core_routers.py:98 imports from api.transcriber import router as transcriber_router; the module landed in a509c7c5b7 (#9551). Re-applying this hunk would un-wire a live router

The parent feature issue #9007 (WhatsApp channel adapter) is CLOSED.

The stash is also not self-consistent: its channel_adapters/__init__.py imports
.whatsapp_adapter, which the stash does not contain — applying it as-is raises ImportError.

Decision: superseded by #4340 / #9551. rescued/stash-2026-06-04-5d317d187 is disposable; left
in place — branch deletion is a separate deliberate act.

Discovered while checking this — filed separately, not a reason to keep this branch: base now
carries two parallel gateway adapter packages, services/gateway/adapters/ (with
    base_adapter.py, whatsapp_adapter.py) and services/gateway/channel_adapters/ (with base.py,
websocket_adapter.py). That duplication is exactly what sent this stash to the wrong package.

Filed the gateway adapter-package duplication noted above as #15024.
