Converts from gregorian calendar date (year, month, day) to modified Julian date. Note that the gregorian calendar date is expected to be in UTC time.

USAGE

May be called in one of two ways:

  1. cal2mjd YYYYMMDD.<day fraction>
  2. cal2mjd <YYYY> <MM> <DD>.<day fraction>

RETURNED: Modified Julian Date

Example

The following is an example for getting the modified Julian date associated with a given calendar date of July 4, 2016 at 4:48 am UTC:
Input

cal2mjd 20160704.2

or

cal2mjd 2016 07 04.2

Output

57573.200000
