Converts from gregorian calendar date (year, month, day) to Julian date. Note that the gregorian calendar date is expected to be in UTC time.
See jd2cal for the reverse conversion.
May be called in one of two ways:
- cal2jd YYYYMMDD.<day fraction>
- cal2jd <YYYY> <MM> <DD>.<day fraction>
RETURNED: Julian Date
The following is an example for getting the Julian date associated with a given calendar date of July 4, 2016 at 4:48 am UTC:

or

Output
2457573.700000
