Converts from gregorian calendar date (year, month, day) to Julian date. Note that the gregorian calendar date is expected to be in UTC time.

USAGE

May be called in one of two ways:

  1. cal2jd YYYYMMDD.<day fraction>
  2. cal2jd <YYYY> <MM> <DD>.<day fraction>

RETURNED: Julian Date

Example

The following is an example for getting the Julian date associated with a given calendar date of July 4, 2016 at 4:48 am UTC:
Input

cal2jd 20160704.2

or

cal2jd 2016 07 04.2

Output

2457573.700000
