I was running UI and got following error :

wal_e.exception.UserException: ERROR: MSG: AWS Access Key credential is required but not provided

FYI -

  • I have setup kubernetes cluster using kOps.
  • using kube2iam for delegating IAM access to pods.

Got this env var from here : https://github.com/wal-e/wal-e/blob/f5b3e790fe10daa098b8cbf01d836c4885dc13c7/wal_e/cmd.py#L187
