This Hebrew Calendar Helper extension is designed for the entire Jewish community and anyone else who is interested in the Hebrew calendar. There is no bias or denominational affiliation. We’re not Reform, Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Sephardic, Ashkenazi, Renewal, Liberal, Progressive, or Humanist.

When testing and developing this extension, the open source work shared by HebCal (http://www.hebcal.com and https://github.com/hebcal) was used a guide. HebCal.com was developed by Danny Sadinoff as a Unix/Linux program. That was later updated for the web by Michael J. Radwin.

Since this extension is written in the PHP programming language, it uses core PHP functions for Hebrew date conversions (http://php.net/manual/en/function.jdtojewish.php) Did you know most modern versions of PHP (starting with PHP version 3) were developed in Israel? For getting Torah readings (Parashat ha-Shavua) and holiday information, this extension calls the HebCal.com APIs.
