extremely light font rendering in chrome Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit)

this may be due to a recent chrome update. ran into a similar issue with the npm website. can try to make a PR later today.

not sure what the issue is. i just bumped the font-weight to 500. i know it's not necessarily as fancy looking as before, but at least it is readable.

yeah so this is a problem with the Fira Sans font, at least on Chrome and FireFox which is enough browsers that I didn't check others. live codepen demo: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/dNbeza

the issue does not seem to be on FireFox and when we fixed it on the npm site we used

+  -webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased;

but i tried that and it didn't seem to work :/

also it seems to be only on certain machines.
