Android device compatibility

This is a partial list of Android devices that have been tested with OpenXC. No devices have been found incompatible via Bluetooth, so the question is mostly if USB will work.

Supported Tablets

• Google Nexus 7 (gen 1) (using Bluetooth or a USB OTG adapter) - the reference device used by the core OpenXC developers.
• Google Nexus 7 (gen 2) (using Bluetooth or a USB OTG adapter)
• Toshiba Thrive 10.1" - another device used by the core OpenXC developers. This tablet includes a full-size USB port.
• Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7" (Bluetooth working fine, USB OTG unconfirmed as it requires an additional Samsung adapter)
• Nexus 10 (using Bluetooth, USB OTG unconfirmed)

Supported Phones

• Samsung Galaxy Nexus (using Bluetooth or a USB OTG adapter, although the vehicle interface must be powered externally if using USB)
• Samsung Galaxy S3 (using Bluetooth or a USB OTG adapter)
• Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (using Bluetooth or a USB OTG adapter)
• Micromax Canvas 2 A110 (using Bluetooth or a USB OTG adapter)
• Google Nexus 4 - LG E960 (using Bluetooth)
• Moto X

Android Devices Not Supporting USB

USB will not work with USB A female-female adapters as they do not pass the neccessary ID pin to use USB OTG on the Android device.

Unsupported Tablets, using USB

• Karbonn Tablet TA-FONE A37 HD
• Samsung Galaxy Tab (the original version) - USB host mode is not fully enabled and is not compatible with a USB vehicle interface.

Unsupported Phones, using USB

• Sony Xperia L
• Sony Xperia E
• HTC One - USB OTG is not supported by the stock HTC ROM Support by Stock HTC Rom, but the phone has the required hardware. Other ROMs (e.g. Cyanogenmod) have been reported to work.
