v0.29.0

Highlights

This release features 594 commits from 277 contributors (91 new)!

  • Model Runner V2 is now the default for all models (#53183), completing the rollout that began with pooling models (#48290). MRV2 also gained CUDA graph memory profiling for KV cache auto-sizing (#53306), batch-sharded sampling that cuts per-step logits memory by 1/TP (#50465), prompt embeds (#42963), extract_hidden_states speculation (#49811), padded FULL cudagraph dispatch for uniform decode under spec decode (#53407), and DP-sync skipping before EAGLE/MTP draft prefill (#53694). MRV1 remains in use for a few ROCm models and features MRV2 does not yet support.
  • New models: Hy4-preview, Tencent's 770B/49B-active MoE with Gated DeepSeek Sparse Attention and native MTP (#54160); Qwen3.8-Flash-Next with BF16/FP8/NVFP4 and MTP (#53896); GraniteSWA and GraniteMoeSWA (#52706); NemotronH_Omni_Reasoning_V3 with MTP (#52929, #53121); Kimi K3 NVFP4 checkpoints (#53132).
  • Kimi-K3 and DeepSeek V4 performance: fused MXFP4 top-k finalization in the K3 latent tail (about 5% E2E latency, #53152), K3 Mamba metadata preparation in one Triton launch (6.6-7.6x kernel speedup, #52388), tuned Hopper low-latency GEMM (#54088) now also dispatched on SM100 (#53534) and used for eh_proj (12.9-25.2% kernel speedup, #53942), GEMM-RS extended to GEMM-AR (#53053), MLA gate merged into the QKV-A projection (#54015), K3 DCP with DSpark (#52188) and DCP partial prefix cache hits (#50493); DeepSeek V4 shared experts fused into MegaMoE (#53040), adaptive top-k width re-landed (#52823), a native SwiGLU clamp kernel for Humming MoE (#53685), and an opt-in FlashInfer moe_ep expert backend (#49636).
  • Speculative decoding: per-request acceptance stats in OpenAI API responses via --per-request-spec-decode-metrics (#48915), adaptive verification extended to logprobs (#52242), SM100 sparse MLA for GLM-5.2 (#52783) and DeepSeek V4 on SM90 (#52795), Qwen3-Omni DSpark drafts (#52560), PLaMo3 EAGLE-3/DFlash (#54239), and DFlash2 loading from speculators format (#53797).
  • RL weight sync: a new sharded_rdt P2P backend where each worker pulls only its TP/EP slice over NIXL or Ray Direct Transport (#43375), rank-local IPC weight updates (#52497), sparse checkpoint-coordinate updates through native weight loaders (#50723, #53751), and routed expert loading for gpt-oss (#52209).
  • Mamba prefix caching: internal prefill checkpoints deliver a 9%-25% TTFT improvement (#52789); prefix_cache_retention_interval is now a CLI argument defaulting to 0 (#52216), with dense retention automatically restored for hybrid models using EAGLE/MTP (#55760, #55861).
  • New defaults: FlashInfer all-reduce enabled by default for TP CUDA groups, opt out with VLLM_ALLREDUCE_USE_FLASHINFER=0 (#52998); prefix-cache NONE_HASH is deterministic by default so distributed KV cache users no longer need to pin PYTHONHASHSEED (#51875); new --max-num-queued-reqs / --max-num-queued-tokens admission-control flags (#49445).
  • Breaking changes: ten deprecated model architectures removed (#53608); FlexOlmo, Olmo3 and Hunyuan V1/VL migrated to the Transformers modeling backend (#53615); PyAV video decoder backend removed (#54231); python -m vllm.entrypoints.openai.api_server deprecated in favor of vllm serve (#52131); VLLM_TEST_FORCE_FP8_MARLIN (#52182) and VLLM_ROCM_USE_AITER_FP4_ASM_GEMM (#53141) removed.

⚠️ Model Runner V1 Deprecation

Now that Model Runner V2 is used by default, we are considering Model Runner V1 deprecated and are targeting v0.32 for its removal. We do not intend to accept any more MRV1-specific improvements or optimizations.

Some features are not yet supported in MRV2 but we are planning for these gaps to be closed within the next 2-3 weeks. These include sequence parallelism, dual-batch overlap, elastic expert parallellism, custom logits processors and certain speculative decoding methods. For now, vLLM will still fall back to use MRV1 if any of these features are configured.

Updates alembic from 1.19.1 to 1.19.2

Release notes

Sourced from alembic's releases.

1.19.2

Released: September 4, 2026

changed

  • [changed] [autogenerate] The autogenerate plugin for CHECK constraint detection by name, added in 1.19.0. for #508, is no longer enabled by default. It has been renamed from alembic.autogenerate.checkconstraint_byname to alembic.ext.checkconstraint_byname and no longer matches on the "alembic.autogenerate.*" wildcard, which remains the default plugin specification. The previous name will still function as well if placed in the plugins list explicitly, both to enable the plugin and within a "~" exclusion, so that an env.py written against 1.19.0 or 1.19.1 requires no change.

The plugin is now recommended only for schemas that ensure the naming of all constraints using a client side naming convention, otherwise there's a persistent risk of false positives. See autogenerate_check_constraints for background on things to be aware of when using this plugin.

As part of this change "type bound" CHECK constraints, which include constraints generated for the Boolean and Enum datatypes when the create_constraint parameter is set to True, are no longer ignored in the metadata side, so that normal name-based matching can occur for these constraints.

    References: #1859

usecase

  • [usecase] [autogenerate] [batch] The target of a ~sqlalchemy.schema.ForeignKey is now located using the ForeignKey.target_tokens and ForeignKey.target_table_key accessors added in SQLAlchemy 2.1, rather than by splitting the dotted string form of that target on ".". As a dot inside a schema, table or column name cannot be told apart from the separator between those names, a foreign key whose target name contained a dot was previously mis-parsed by autogenerate rendering as well as by batch migrations. The dotted string continues to be split when running against SQLAlchemy 2.0, where these accessors are not present. Thanks to Gyanu Mayank for the initial pull request.

Release 5.17.0

Release v5.17.0

New Model additions

HYV4

Hy4-Preview is a 780B-parameter mixture-of-experts language model that activates 49B parameters per token. Each MoE layer holds 256 routed experts plus one always-active shared expert and routes every token to 8 of them. The context window is 1M tokens.

The architecture combines four features:

  • Multi-head Latent Attention (MLA) compresses keys and values into a low-rank latent (kv_lora_rank) that kv_b_proj expands back to one key/value per query head.
  • DeepSeek Sparse Attention (DSA) selects index_topk keys per query with a lightweight indexer. Following IndexShare, only the layers marked "full" in indexer_types run an indexer; "shared" layers reuse the previous full layer's selection.
  • Gated MLA with learnable attention sinks, where each head owns a sink logit that participates in the softmax and contributes no value, as in GPT-OSS.
  • Independent Hyper-Connections (iHC) replace the plain residual path with hc_mult parallel residual streams that are collapsed before, and redistributed after, every sublayer.

The implementation does not execute the multi-token prediction (MTP) layers. Released checkpoints keep those weights so that other runtimes can use them for speculative decoding; they are ignored at load time.

VibeVoice

VibeVoice is a novel framework for synthesizing high-fidelity, long-form speech with multiple speakers by employing a next-token diffusion approach within a Large Language Model (LLM) structure. It's designed to capture the authentic conversational "vibe" and is particularly suited for generating audio content like podcasts and multi-participant audiobooks.

NeoMME

NeoMME is a family of efficient 260M and 800M parameter multimodal-native multilingual foundation encoders from H Company. It processes multilingual text tokens and raw image patches in a single bidirectional Transformer encoder, without a separately pretrained vision tower or causal language model.

NeoMME-Retriever is a model fine-tuned from the NeoMME backbone for visual document retrieval with joint late-interaction and dense objectives. It takes text queries and documents (text or page screenshots) and produces multi-vector embeddings for MeanMaxSim scoring (late-interaction) and mean-pooled embeddings for cosine similarity (dense).

Updates pypdf from 6.17.0 to 6.18.0

Release notes

Sourced from pypdf's releases.

Version 6.18.0, 2026-09-07

What's new

Please note that this release requires users which previously overwrote the default limits to migrate to the new approach: Docs

In short:

  • Use apply_configuration as a context manager to temporarily overwrite configuration values.
  • Use overwrite_configuration to change the configuration values for the whole session.

The old overwrites should continue to work in most cases. If you have migrated successfully and do not need the legacy handling anymore (which can cause some overhead), consider using the temporary disable_legacy_handling setting:

from pypdf import overwrite_configuration
overwrite_configuration(disable_legacy_handling=True)

In case you are experiencing some unexpected issues after the migration, consider opening a new issue (or commenting on an existing one) with the necessary details to reproduce it.

Retargeted to main (main-first flow, #11696). Dependabot security updates always open against the default branch; this workflow re-applies the retarget after every Dependabot push, so rebases cannot revert it.

Notice: 29 open PRs — past the runaway threshold (25)

There is no PR queue limit, and this is not a request to defer this PR. Work proceeds one issue at a time without a cap on open PRs; review capacity is the constraint.

This notice only means the count is high enough to be worth a glance for a runaway — something opening PRs in a loop, or a merge pipeline that has stalled so nothing is draining.

Currently open:

If the queue is draining normally, ignore this. Otherwise:

  1. Check whether CI is dispatching at all — see the ci-dispatch-watchdog status on these PRs
  2. Merge the ones whose CI has finished and review has passed: gh pr merge <number> --squash --delete-branch
  3. Look for a loop opening near-identical PRs

Warn-only runaway detector — .github/workflows/pr-queue-gate.yml. It never blocks a merge.

Looks like these dependencies are updatable in another way, so this is no longer needed.
