Reporting SteamOS and Steam client bugs

It is important that bugs and issues with SteamOS or the Linux client are reported to Valve to be seen and heard. While submitting a bug is important, what is more important, is that you provide a good explanation with proper details. Also important, is where you submit this report.

These issues affect the overall experience of SteamOS, but can include issues with the client only if it affects SteamOS by itself, and not only with the Steam client. An example of this may be how gamepads detected by SteamOS are presented in the Steam client. These bugs should be reported to the SteamOS bug tracker
If you are opted into the Steam Client Beta (Settings > System), and experience a bug after an update or otherwise, you will want to report these issues as a bug discussion thread in the Steam Client Beta community group under "Bugs." Keep in mind this is only for Beta client issues. For regular non-beta client issues, see Steam for Linux.
It is very important that you include a detailed explanation of what you are experiencing, preferably with some system info. A community made bug-report-tool can be found here. This will produce a gist URL that you can add to your bug report. The gist is created as an anonymous account.
If you do not wish to use the tool linked above, the output from lspci is often sought after. You can get this information by:
- Settings > Interface > Enable access to the Linux desktop
- Exit > Exit to desktop
- Activities (top left) > Terminal
