ci: typecheck gui/ in prepush when the branch changes it (carry #6485, #6592) - #6637
Conversation
…#6592) Root `bun run typecheck` never parses gui/ (no project references), and fork pull requests do not run the CI "GUI build" step, so a gui compile error could reach review unseen (#6471). prepush now runs scripts/typecheck-gui-if-changed.ts right after the root typecheck: it runs `tsc -b` in gui/ with the launching bun when the branch's diff against upstream/dev, origin/dev or dev touches gui/, and runs it anyway when no base resolves or the diff fails. Carried from #6485 and #6592 by @lcxhh521 as one maintainer change. Review follow-ups: the diff disables rename detection so a file moved out of gui/ still triggers the check, and the tests use a Bun compiler stub with a distinctive exit code plus a missing-executable case instead of `false`, which native Windows does not provide. Navigate logical layers of code changes, visualize relationships, and explore their blast radius. 📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe prepush command now runs a GUI-specific typecheck gate after the root typecheck and before GUI lint. The gate detects changed GUI paths and runs the GUI TypeScript build when required. New tests cover path detection, command outcomes, and workflow wiring. ChangesGUI Typecheck Gate

Summary
bun run prepushtypechecks only the root project:tsconfig.jsonincludessrcand has no project references, so a compile error ingui/passes every local gate. Fork pull requests do not run the CI "GUI build" step, so on #6471 aTS2304ingui/src/pages/Usage.tsxreached ready-for-review before any maintainer build caught it.prepushnow runs a newtypecheck:gui:if-changedstep right after the root typecheck.scripts/typecheck-gui-if-changed.tsmirrors the existing lint and React Doctor if-changed gates:upstream/dev, thenorigin/dev, thendev(the ordertest:changeduses). It does not use@{u}, becauseprepushis a package script and never sees the push destination.guior undergui/, it runstsc -bingui/withprocess.execPathand propagates the compiler's exit status. A failed spawn exits 1.-z(non-ASCII names) and--no-renames(a file moved out ofgui/still reports itsgui/source).This carries #6485 and #6592 by @lcxhh521 as one maintainer change, with a
Co-authored-bytrailer on the commit. Both source PRs are superseded by this one. The sol review of the carry added two changes on top of the contributor's work: rename detection is off (above), and the failure test now uses a Bun compiler stub that exits 23 and asserts that exact code, plus a missing-executable case. It no longer usesfalse, which native Windows does not provide.Only the
scriptsblock ofpackage.jsonchanges; no dependency, lockfile, workflow, or release surface is touched.Verification
No local tests were run, per owner instruction for this landing round; test evidence is hosted CI at this head.
Static checks at the PR head:
bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, bun scripts/file-size-ratchet.ts, andgit diff --check origin/dev...HEADall exit 0.bun build --no-bundleparses the new script and test (root typecheck coverssrconly). A dry run of the gate in this checkout (TYPECHECK_DRY_RUN=1) printstypecheck:skip, which is correct for a branch with nogui/changes.Tests that CI runs:
tests/ci-workflows/ci-gui-typecheck-gate.test.tscovers the script entry and prepush order, run/skip decisions, exact exit propagation, a missing compiler, and five fixture-repository cases (non-gui skip then gui run, a rename out ofgui/, a non-ASCII gui path, a gui change already on the tracking branch, an uncomputable diff). It also checks that the CI GUI build step stays under the gui filter.tests/ci-workflows/ci-workflows.test.tsasserts the full prepush chain.Checklist
