[8.2] perc-membership-services build fails due to Spring ApplicationContext initialization errors in Generic Key service tests #2007

Closed

Description

@vijaya-boddipudi

Description

The perc-membership-services module build fails during the Maven test phase because multiple Generic Key service tests are unable to load the Spring ApplicationContext. After the initial context initialization failure, subsequent tests are skipped due to the Spring TestContext framework's ApplicationContext failure threshold, resulting in a module build failure.

Environment

  • Product: Percussion CMS 8.2
  • Module: perc-membership-services
  • Build Tool: Maven
  • Plugin: maven-surefire-plugin 3.5.4
  • OS: Windows
  • Steps to Reproduce
  • Build the Percussion CMS source.
  • Execute the Maven build including the perc-membership-services module.
  • Allow the test phase to execute.

Actual Result

The following tests fail because the Spring test context cannot be initialized:

PSGenericKeyServiceTest.testCreateKey
PSGenericKeyServiceTest.testValidKey
PSGenericKeyDaoTest.testCreateResetKeyAndDelete
PSGenericKeyDaoTest.testCreateResetKeyAndValidate

The first context initialization failure causes subsequent tests using the same Spring context to be skipped with:

ApplicationContext failure threshold (1) exceeded: skipping repeated attempt to load context

Build summary:

  • Tests run: 20
  • Failures: 0
  • Errors: 4
  • Skipped: 0

BUILD FAILURE

Failed to execute goal
org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-surefire-plugin:3.5.4:test
(default-test) on project perc-membership-services

Surefire reports are generated under:

deliverytiersuite/delivery-tier-suite/membership/target/surefire-reports

Expected Result

The Spring ApplicationContext defined in test-beans-generic-key.xml should load successfully, allowing all Generic Key service and DAO tests to execute and pass. The perc-membership-services module should complete successfully without causing the overall build to fail.

Error Excerpt

PSGenericKeyServiceTest.testCreateKey
IllegalState: ApplicationContext failure threshold (1) exceeded

PSGenericKeyServiceTest.testValidKey
IllegalState: Failed to load ApplicationContext

PSGenericKeyDaoTest.testCreateResetKeyAndDelete
IllegalState: ApplicationContext failure threshold (1) exceeded

PSGenericKeyDaoTest.testCreateResetKeyAndValidate
IllegalState: ApplicationContext failure threshold (1) exceeded

Notes

  • The reported errors are secondary to an initial Spring ApplicationContext initialization failure.
  • The root cause should be identified from the first Failed to load ApplicationContext exception in the Surefire reports or corresponding dump files, as the remaining failures are cascading effects caused by Spring's context failure threshold mechanism.
