Ephemeral notifications

Does Android allow notifications that disappear without needing to be dismissed?

If so, this would be a great little bonus. It's a small problem but really I just want to hear the notification - I already know what it is by the sound. Feels like a chore to always be dismissing notifications later.

It should be possible - thanks for the suggestion.
I think an option to 'auto dismiss' a notification could be added.
