COOL IDEAS™: add an Echo witness flight recorder #73

Description

@flyingrobots

Idea

Add an Echo witness flight recorder mode for Jedit.

Product Shape

When enabled, Jedit records structured JSONL facts for Echo-facing activity:

  • submitted intents
  • receipts
  • reading envelopes
  • retained material references
  • obstructions
  • replay and recovery posture
  • originating command/key sequence, when available

The history drawer, bug report bundles, and tests should be able to consume the same structured trace rather than scraping terminal output.

Why It Matters

This gives us one evidence stream for user-visible history, agent inspection, replay fixtures, and bug reports. It also makes Echo's core promise visible: state changes come with lawful provenance.

Acceptance Criteria

  • A port or adapter records Echo witness activity without adding app nouns to Echo.
  • The trace format is structured, deterministic, and documented.
  • Sensitive host paths or payloads have an explicit redaction posture.
  • The history drawer can eventually read from the same evidence shape.
  • At least one test proves a trace entry for an edit receipt and one obstruction.
