Summary

Brings the fork's records of its Netflix/vmaf pull requests and of the tracked upstream defects up to date with upstream master 9cb9479f2 (checked 2026-10-08). Documentation and one parity-allowlist reference only; no fork code and no score changes.

Type

  • docs — documentation only

Checklist

  • Commits follow Conventional Commits (the commit-msg hook enforces this).
  • Every commit is signed off (git commit -s; fix a branch with git rebase --signoff origin/master). See DCO sign-off.
  • make format && make lint is green locally. Markdown lint, make docs-fragments-check and the state row gate were run on the changed files; no C, Python or Go changed.
  • Unit tests pass: no code changed.

Bug-status hygiene (ADR-0165)

  • docs/state.md updated in this PR: dated updates on existing rows, no row opened or closed.

Netflix golden-data gate (ADR-0024)

  • I did not modify any assertAlmostEqual(...) score in the Netflix golden Python tests.

Deep-dive deliverables (ADR-0108)

  • Research digest — no digest needed: dated status records only
  • Decision matrix — no alternatives: no decision, status records only
  • AGENTS.md invariant note — no rebase-sensitive invariants
  • Reproducer / smoke-test command — see below
  • CHANGELOG fragment — no changelog needed: documentation records only
  • Rebase note — docs/rebase-notes.d/upstream-reconcile-2026-10-08.md

…e unused chart helpers (ADR-2350) (#2633)

* fix(helm): stop setting VMAFX_BACKEND on the scoring server and remove unused chart helpers (ADR-2350)

The chart set VMAFX_BACKEND on the server's Deployment, StatefulSet and
Job, but vmafx-server never reads it: it takes its backend from each
request's `backend` score option. The entry is gone from the platform
definition, and with it the `unread` escape that let the definition keep
it, so the generator now refuses any chart entry the workload's binary
does not read. The install notes no longer print a BACKEND line, and the
server container renders `env` only when `.Values.env` holds values.
Nodes keep VMAFX_BACKEND from gpu.vendor.

vmafx.podSpec, vmafx.containerSpec, vmafx.volumes (used only by
vmafx.podSpec) and templates/sidecar-trainer.yaml (vmafx.sidecarContainer)
had no caller and are deleted, with their generated environment helpers.
vmafx-mcp no longer copies VMAFX_LOG_LEVEL / VMAFX_LOG_FORMAT into
LOG_LEVEL / LOG_FORMAT, which nothing read since golusoris reads log.level
and log.format; their "no effect" rows leave the environment table.

test_helm_config_env.py drops its comparison with the hand-written lists
(retired now that master generates them) and checks that each server
workload's container carries only the env values; the Job template and
helpers of the previous commit fail it. helm template output changes only
in the server Deployment, StatefulSet and Job across 46 values sets.

…9cb9479f2 (#2634)

* docs(upstream): record the 2026-10-08 reconcile against Netflix/vmaf 9cb9479f2

The fork's records of its Netflix/vmaf pull requests and of the upstream
defects it tracks were last checked on 2026-10-01. Upstream master has
moved to 9cb9479f2 since, with the MSVC series, the arm64 ADM kernels,
the fused SpEED filter and a rewrite of integer_compute_adm(). This
brings the records up to date. No fork code and no score changes.

- known-upstream-bugs.md: 42 open pull requests instead of 15, which of
them needed a rebase or a rework against 9cb9479f2, the #1494 and
best15 status, the integer AIM change upstream (cffd5b77d), the arm64
gap in #1602, and what is new upstream since the parity pin. The pin
  heading is unchanged.
- state.md: dated updates on the rows for #1422, #1551 (both halves),
  #1602, #1605, #1635, #1636 and #955.
- upstream_parity.d: the APSNR zero-error row also names #1618, which
changes the same cap upstream; the allowlist page is regenerated.
- rebase-notes.d: what a port of upstream's arm64 ADM code (8bc5a5c6a,
b41d2340a) must not copy, and the closed state of #1551.
