The all-contributors bot creates PRs against the default branch (main) which leads to further divergence from develop.

It seems not:

• there is a pending issue since 2019 to target another branch Support merging to another branch than the default one all-contributors/app#243
• more recently, another issue to add the contribution in the current PR Add to contributors in the current PR all-contributors/app#482

There is a GH Action that could solve our need but it's looking out of date https://github.com/marketplace/actions/all-contributors-action

The all-contributors App can't be pointed at develop (app#243 is still open, six years on), so every add lands on main and is overwritten when main is rebuilt from develop at release.

PR #1049 replaces the App with a small workflow that keeps the same comment interface but opens the pull request against develop:

• Comment @all-contributors please add @user for bug, code on any issue or PR.
• The workflow (.github/workflows/add-contributor.yml) parses it, runs the all-contributors CLI, and opens a PR to develop.
• It runs on the default GITHUB_TOKEN. Since develop requires a review but no status checks, the PR merges after approval, so no PAT is needed. Triggering is limited to users with write access.

Two one-time settings make it live:

1. Uninstall or suspend the "All Contributors" App on the repo, so it stops opening main PRs for the same comment.
2. Settings → Actions → General → enable "Allow GitHub Actions to create and approve pull requests".
