Customization: interface, buttons, themes and skins #11

Description

@EriArk

A Reddit feedback request asked about deeper visual and control customization in AbyssME: interface customization, button customization, themes, and skins.

This issue tracks that whole customization pass rather than locking the implementation down too early.

Areas to explore

  • Interface appearance and layout customization
  • Virtual button appearance / layout options
  • Themes and color presets
  • Skins or other user-selectable visual styles
  • Any other related customization ideas that come out of community feedback

The goal is to collect concrete requests and examples first, then decide what fits AbyssME best.

Status (2026-10-08): keypad/gamepad touch layouts and size/opacity/reach controls are implemented in development builds. Full themes and skins remain open; see #12 for genuine light appearance.

If you have specific ideas, screenshots, examples from other emulators, or particular options you want to see, please add them here or send them in the AbyssTail Discord.

    Update (2026-10-08): phone controls now have keypad/gamepad layouts, portrait/landscape arrangements and size/opacity/reach options; controller mapping uses the two-pane controller/phone-key editor. These do not constitute a theme or skin system. Remaining scope: genuine light appearance (see #12), coherent color presets and deciding whether user skins fit the product. The old next-week wording was an intent, not a release date.
