This has been tested on Taurus with VampirTrace in async CUPTI mode and CUDA 5.5, no errors.

Cool. What is the advantage of doing this?

When tracing with VampirTrace compiled for CUDA 5.5, VT uses the new asynchronous buffering API which requires cudeDeviceReset to be the last CUDA operation in the program. (Technically, all CUPTI versions required this, but it wasn't strictly enforced yet).

And since we "know" that the Destructor of StreamController will be destructed last in PIConGPU, that's totally save to put there ^^

It has been proven using "expert knowledge" 🎓
Obviously, this is far from perfect but it works right know and there is currently no other way to obtain tracing results.
