Share logs, code and configs instantly — through links that expire on their own.
logshare.in · Share a log · Live code room · 22 developer tools
This repository is not the LogShare application — it's a plain-language overview of what the product does and how to use it, kept here because it's the easiest place for other developers to find, read and link to. The app itself is closed-source and runs at logshare.in.
LogShare is a free, no-account way to share three kinds of things with a link that expires on its own, plus a couple of tools built around the same idea:
| What it does | |
|---|---|
| Log Share | Paste a log or stack trace, get a link with line numbers, error/warning highlighting and search. |
| Code Share | Open a live room and edit code together in real time — syntax highlighting for 16 languages, no account for either side. |
| Text Share | A minimal, disposable pastebin: paste anything, pick an expiry, send the link. |
| Private Room | A Code Share room locked with a PIN, for things only one specific person should open. |
| Developer Tools | 22 browser-side formatters, validators and converters (JSON, YAML, JWT, cron, CIDR, diff, and more) — nothing is ever uploaded. |
Most places to paste text online are built to keep things: an account, a history page, a permanent URL. That's backwards for what developers actually paste all day — logs full of hostnames and request IDs, a config with an internal URL in it, throwaway code for a ten-minute interview. LogShare starts from the other direction:
- Nothing is kept by default. Every share has an expiry (30 minutes to 7 days); code rooms are removed 7 days after the last visit or edit.
- No account, ever. Not to create a share, not to read one.
- Nothing is indexed or listed. Share links are unguessable and marked
noindex; nobody finds your paste by browsing or searching. - The developer tools never leave your browser. Formatting a JSON file or decoding a JWT happens client-side — nothing is uploaded to format it.
- A log, text, or config share expires at the time you pick when you
create it — 30 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, or 7 days. Once it
expires, the content is deleted and the link returns a
410 Gonepage. - A public code room is kept for as long as people use it and removed 7 days after the last visit or edit — opening the link, not just editing it, restarts that clock.
- A private room (PIN-protected) expires at a fixed time you choose when you create it, up to 24 hours, regardless of activity.
- An engineer pasting a stack trace into a support ticket or a Slack thread.
- Two people debugging together who need a shared editor, not a screen share.
- Anyone who wants a quick pastebin without creating one more account.
- Interviewers and teachers who want a disposable, PIN-lockable code room.
If you're coming from Pastebin, Hastebin, Codeshare.io or GitHub Gist, LogShare's own site has honest, dated comparisons — including what those tools do better, not just a sales pitch: logshare.in/alternatives
Is it really free? Yes, no plan tiers, no signup for any feature.
Do you keep anything forever? No. The longest expiry is 7 days for shares; code rooms follow the same 7-day idle rule. Permanence is left out on purpose.
Is my content uploaded anywhere for the developer tools? No — the
formatters, validators and converters under /tools run entirely in your
browser. Only Log Share, Code Share, Text Share and Private Room send
content to the server, because that's the point of sharing a link.
Can I self-host it? Not currently — LogShare is a hosted service, not an open-source project you run yourself.
Is this repo the source code? No — see the note at the top. This repo is documentation and screenshots only.
