Component Name

HtmlSummarizer

Description

HtmlSummarizer is a component in a Yeager Workflow designed to fetch HTML content from a given URL, parse and extract significant text, and generate a concise summary that represents the main information contained in the original HTML. This component inherits from the AbstractWorkflow base class.

Input and Output Models

The component utilizes two data models for input and output:

  1. HtmlSummarizerIn: Input model containing a single attribute url (str), which represents the URL to fetch the HTML content from.
  2. HtmlSummarizerOut: Output model containing a single attribute summary (str), which represents the generated summary of the HTML content.

Both input and output models use the Pydantic library for validation and serialization.

Parameters

The component does not accept any parameters in its constructor. However, the transform() function has two parameters:

  1. args: An instance of the HtmlSummarizerIn input model, containing the input URL.
  2. callbacks: An optional parameter of type typing.Any, representing callback functions or other data to be passed along in the workflow. In this component, no specific use of callbacks is implemented.

Transform Function

The transform() function executes the following steps:

  1. Calls the transform() function of the superclass (AbstractWorkflow) with the provided args and callbacks.
  2. Retrieves the generated summary from the dictionary returned by the superclass transform method in the form of results_dict["summary"].text.
  3. Initializes a new instance of the HtmlSummarizerOut output model with the retrieved summary.
  4. Returns the output model instance containing the generated summary.

External Dependencies

The component uses several external libraries:

  • typing: Allows the use of type hints for better code readability.
  • dotenv: Loads environment variables from a .env file.
  • fastapi: Provides the FastAPI application framework for API creation and management.
  • pydantic: Enables validation and serialization of the input and output models.

API Calls

No external API calls are made directly in the component; all API interactions are assumed to take place within the transform() function of the AbstractWorkflow superclass.

Error Handling

Specific error handling is not implemented in the component. Errors and exceptions raised during the execution of the transform() function should be handled by the AbstractWorkflow superclass.
