Interesting. I did not know this site. I tried one of the SCUT sofa files and I've noticed that it indeed can make the output sound level insanely high if the convolver autogain option is disabled. Did you have it enabled or disabled? It is normal to have some difference in sound level from one impulse to another when autogain is disabled. But it is usually something subtle. But the SCUT files are way different from the normal. It definitely can't be used without normalization.

In general, when you test something, a Limiter or a Maximizer at the end of the pipeline should be used.

I noticed when using efotech crossfeed i would get some clipping without negative preeamp or a limiter. Even autogain doesnt help in that. If anything it makes it worse for me.
