In the last 15 years, various pilot projects have demonstrated the incredible power of Mobile Phone Data (MPD) for informing decision-making and development policies. The World Bank's Global Data Facility - Mobile Phone Data (GDF-MPD) Program is helping low- and middle-income countries move from pilots to scale, integrating MPD into national data systems.
The GDF–MPD window is the largest global initiative of its kind. We currently support 24 country programs to advance responsive statistics and policy insights through Cohort 1 (global) and Cohort 2 (SADC), with a goal of reaching 30 countries by 2030.
The program provides training, technical assistance, and peer learning opportunities that build local capacity, strengthen governance, and accelerate the durable use of MPD for the public good. All resources curated by the program are hosted in this repository and organized for easy browsing on the GDF-MPD Project Portal.
The project maintains a Code of Conduct to ensure an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone. Please adhere to it in all interactions within our community.
