You should build with dmlx, not dml. dml backend has been renamed as dmlx backend which relies on DirectMLX.h, sorry for forgeting to remove the messages about dml backend in readme.

This repo which implements WebNN-Spec is a little old, we have not maintained it for some days, so it hasn't followed the latest WebNN-Spec. Are there any other repos we can share? @ibelem

@xuwenqiang224 Thanks for trying to build WebNN Native! We started to implement WebNN API into upstream Chromium and WebNN API is and will be part of Chromium based browser, so we will not actively maintain this WebNN-Native repo.

Please refer to https://webmachinelearning.github.io/webnn-status/ for the implementation status, and try WebNN demos listed in this page with following steps:

Installation Guides

WebNN requires a compatible browser to run, and Windows* 11 v21H2 (DML 1.6.0) or higher. Try the latest Google Chrome* Canary or Microsoft Edge* Canary, which requires enabling WebNN functionality in the settings.

1. Download the latest Google Chrome Canary or Microsoft Edge Canary browser.
2. To enable WebNN, in your browser address bar, enter chrome://flags, and then press Enter. An Experiments page opens.
3. In the Search flags box, enter webnn. Enables WebNN API appears.
4. In the drop-down menu, select Enabled.
5. Relaunch your browser.

@xuwenqiang224 We do have benchmark tools but they are not open source yet. How about to add parameter "numRuns" in the URL to run the WebNN iterations? E.g. https://webmachinelearning.github.io/webnn-samples/image_classification/?numRuns=101 Thanks!

If the "not work" means the "Failed to execute 'createContext' on 'ML': The cpu device is not supported." error, it has been fixed by https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/5446318 and it should work on the Canary build before next Monday.

You can try with Chrome Stable build as well, enable WebNN API through chrome://flags, then visit https://webmachinelearning.github.io/webnn-samples/image_classification/?numRuns=101 , tested it works on Version 123.0.6312.107 (Official Build) (64-bit).

We hope but we have to go through process for publishing the benchmark tools which needs time.
