tried with my Lolin CH340 nodemcu v3 clone and it does not work, maybe the board is not supported somehow

ESP01 and ESP12 work.

Works with a LOLIN D1 Mini v3.0.0 using the v5.2.0 xtensa-lx106-elf package from this link, and tweaking the GPIO assignments / changing flash upload speed to 1,500,000 baud in menuconfig :)
