Project Abstract

Atlas Research merges code notebooks and paper-writing tools into a single platform, allowing users to:

  • Upload academic papers (PDFs).
  • Convert those PDFs into Markdown/LaTeX so that large language models (LLMs) can parse the math, methodology, and references.
  • Generate an implementation plan in a Jupyter Notebook (cell-by-cell).
  • Seamlessly develop and run code (e.g., Python for quantitative research or smart-contract analysis).
  • Iterate quickly with AI assistance.
  • Key Feature (in development): An automated PDF-to-Jupyter AI pipeline that helps users transform papers such as academic DeFi market-making research or on-chain data analysis for Polkadot—directly into runnable code, bridging the gap between theory and implementation.

Grant level

  • Level 1: Up to $10,000, 2 approvals
  • Level 2: Up to $30,000, 3 approvals
  • Level 3: Unlimited, 5 approvals (for >$100k: Web3 Foundation Council approval)

Application Checklist

  • The application template has been copied and aptly renamed (project_name.md).
  • I have read the application guidelines.
  • Payment details have been provided (Polkadot AssetHub (USDC & DOT) address in the application and bank details via email, if applicable).
  • I understand that an agreed upon percentage of each milestone will be paid in vested DOT, to the Polkadot address listed in the application.
  • I am aware that, in order to receive a grant, I (and the entity I represent) have to successfully complete a KYC/KYB check.
  • The software delivered for this grant will be released under an open-source license specified in the application.
  • The initial PR contains only one commit (squash and force-push if needed).
  • The grant will only be announced once the first milestone has been accepted (see the announcement guidelines).
  • I prefer the discussion of this application to take place in a private Element/Matrix channel. My username is: @_______:matrix.org (change the homeserver if you use a different one)

Thanks for the application @markwindsorr but I'm not sure it's a great fit for the W3F grants program, since your product is already established and seems to be generating revenue through subscriptions. The grants program is geared more towards early-stage startups who have an idea but need to flesh out a PoC. Additionally, I'm not sure which audience benefits from this integration, and the deliverables aren't really Polkadot related aside from parsing Polkadot research papers.

Hi @markwindsorr, thanks for the interesting application. The researcher in me finds the project quite interesting. However, I have to agree with my colleague Keegan that this is not a great fit for the Grants Program. It relies on closed source LLMs, which is against our guidelines, and both the frontend and connectors would be specific to this project, even if open sourced.

I do, I changed that yesterday as I'm focusing on all areas of computational research not just quant. Also not a problem. I'm getting traction I can't keep up with, just looking for some options for raising some early initial funds as its bootstrapped as a solo developer to ease the pain/workload.

There are many other features but wanted to focus on this one (PDF to notebook conversion) as its a single action the user can take immediately and get to the aha moment as fast as possible. It's the best one to show a demo and also one that I'll eventually be open sourcing.

You guys might be interested in some of the LaTeX features for white paper writing. Would be interested in your feedback of any AI features you might find useful as I know writing/compiling LaTeX is extremely annoying. Converting and linking LaTeX equations/algos to runnable code instantly is useful as well.

Wasn't quite sure what you guys were looking for and figured I might be able to help out. Anyways cheers
