Here some early findings with the slipstreamed Photon OS iso. Hope this helps.

Please, backport #1385 (a2729ae , bbf5ac6) . Same issue .

B)
Potential packages conflict check

tdnf list | tdnf install `awk ' {print $1 } ' ` 

ends with

Tested with photon-4.0-af9fb953c.iso : tdnf install python3-sphinxcontrib-serializinghtmlinstalls successfully.

C)
Booting slipstreamed photon-4.0-3f406caab.iso in vm with virtual hardware 10 (ESXi 5.5) on ESXi8 fails with an exception.
It's not the same behavior like in #1385 Q .

tested with photon-4.0-af9fb953c.iso (af9fb95) with RT install, fixed.
Retested with photon-4.0-5347f73fc.iso: vhw10 allocates only 384MB ram -> changed to 2GB -> no issue anymore.

D)
llvm and clang are in this installation somewhat bigger sized packages. It already impacted during build make that 128GB disk size wasn't enough.
The package sizes are 834MB and 532MB. Might be related to 218634e .

E) cve-check-tool same issue like #1385 X .

F)
cloud-network.service fails to start after reboot with tdnf install cloud-network-setup before the reboot.

Happens on dhcp and static ipv4.

G)
'All-in' install conflict check

for n in $(tdnf list | echo `awk '{ printf "%s\\n",$1 }' `); do tdnf install -y $n;done

with a reboot at then end results in various failed daemons.

Installing each package manually with/without a reboot does not reproduce the finding.

https://github.com/vmware-archive/lightwave has been archived. What's the impact for Photon OS?
Actually, tdnf install lightwave ends with no proper configuration, hence the daemon fails.

I) Shouldn't raspberrypi-firmware* packages be aarch64 only? E.g. raspberrypi-firmware-pi-extra is listed but fails.

not an issue but maybe a helpful indicator: Actually there are 44 Photon OS 3.0 packages with a higher release than the same named 4.0 packages, March 18th 2023

Related to C) From two vms installed with photon-4.0-af9fb953c.iso - one vm with vhw10 and one with vhw20 - the one with vhw10 seems to freeze after a while and keyboard entries in console browser are not applied.

Retested with photon-4.0-5347f73fc.iso: -> not an issue anymore.

Reproduction steps

1. make iso build from 940fd1a
2. ESXi 8.0 vm, default vm settings for Photon OS, boot from iso, Photon Realtime flavor installation, mounted iso

@gpiyush-dev Installer starts installing Photon OS, reaches 100%, but fails afterwards.

Tested on a slipstreamed photon-4.0-5347f73fc.iso (5347f73) issue is solved. * congrats!
Test information: x86_64 ESXi 8.0 vm, default vm settings for Photon OS, boot from iso, realtime flavor installed.

M) Same methodology like in #1385 Y. Here is the Ph4 output file photonos-urlhealth-4.0_202303171815.txt to achieve a higher Source0 url health ratio, 884 of 965. In addition, the actual scan detected 589 available, non-cve-correlated, non-install verified updates.

N) @sshedi fyi In the built photon-4.0-084bdcaa2.iso, the VMware 4.0 beta license agreement is displayed. Is this the "new" standard for slipstreamed isos?

The issue #1390 K) still persists. The photon-4.0-084bdcaa2.iso is built without e5d2536.

Tested on a slipstreamed photon-4.0-5347f73fc.iso (5347f73) both issues are solved. * congrats!

All important issues have been solved.
The sub issue M isn't an issue but using more latest rpm manufacturer packages could become a Photon OS security enhancement. The actual scan detected many available, non-cve-correlated, non-install verified updates.
