Installation

These themes target Ardour 9.8.

1. Download the desired theme:
   • Latte
   • Frappé
   • Macchiato
   • Mocha
2. Copy the .colors file into the appropriate user theme directory:
   • Linux (native): ${XDG_CONFIG_HOME:-$HOME/.config}/ardour9/themes/
   • macOS: ~/Library/Preferences/Ardour9/themes/
   • Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Ardour9\themes\
3. Open Ardour and go to Preferences → Appearance → Colors.
4. Select the theme from the Color Theme list.

FAQ

What is the legacy directory?

The legacy/ardour8/ directory contains the Ardour 8 version of this port and its screenshots.

I installed the Flatpak version. Where do I put the theme?

For the Flathub build, use:

~/.var/app/org.ardour.Ardour/config/ardour9/themes/

Can I change an individual interface color?

Yes, under Preferences → Appearance → Colors → Items.

Why do tracks from an existing project keep their old colors?

Ardour stores track colors in each session. Existing colors can be reassigned with the track color picker.

Development

The four current theme files are generated from themes/ardour.tera with Catppuccin Whiskers.

Generate the themes:

whiskers themes/ardour.tera

Check that the generated files are current:

whiskers themes/ardour.tera --check
