Description
Hello VeraCrypt Team,
I am facing an issue with a system-encrypted disk and I need your guidance.
I had encrypted my Windows system disk using VeraCrypt (full system encryption). When I power on my laptop, VeraCrypt asks for the password before boot, and after entering the correct password, the process completes successfully. However, after that, Windows no longer boots and the system gets stuck (BIOS/Dell logo stage). Because of this, Windows is currently unusable.
At the moment, I am running Linux from a separate HDD. The encrypted disk (which previously had Windows) is an SSD. The issue is that neither Linux nor any other OS installer is detecting this encrypted SSD. Since the disk is not being detected, I am unable to install a new OS on it.
I do know the correct VeraCrypt password for the encrypted disk, and my goal is to permanently decrypt the disk and remove VeraCrypt encryption so I can reuse the SSD.
My questions are:
- Is it possible to decrypt a VeraCrypt system-encrypted disk from Linux, if Windows is no longer bootable?
- If yes, what are the exact steps or tools required?
- If not, is there any official recovery or decryption method recommended in this situation?
I would really appreciate your guidance, as I want to safely remove the encryption without losing control of the disk.
Thank you for your time and support.
