Update repo metadata in README and other files provided from repo template.

@rtapella I've created a branch named update-repo-metadata in which I've already begun updating information in our README as provided by our repo template courtesy of SLIM.

I was hoping you could also help fill in some details or provide input on what you want to have included. Doesn't need to be finalized now, we can iterate over this too and keep the basic information I've already added.

Once we're comfortable, we'll need to issue a PR.
