[BUG] Fix Email Verification Code not working

From one of our users:
"When I create a new HelpMe account using email (i.e., not through UBC) the enter-code-sent-to-email verification will indicate that verification failed, even if I actually typed in the code correctly. After, if I just go back to login screen and log in with my new account, it lets me into the new account."

This might be a multi-faceted issue. I remember there being a part where a user couldn't copy-paste the verification code in due to case-sensitivity iirc, but I forget if I fixed that.

This does seem really weird though. It's almost like the verification goes through but it shows an error message for some reason.

The first thing I would check here is to try to manually type in the verification code from email to see if you can re-create the issue.

Also, the login/authentication stuff is the one part of the system that neither Bridgette nor I are overly familiar with (this stuff was done by previous developers)

This might be due to the user copy-and-pasting with whitespace. I think I addressed this in #351? It could also be if the code is valid but the redirect doesn't go through. Also addressed that there.
