Can't import settings on Chromium based portable browsers

Prerequisites

• The issue is not present after disabling uBO in the browser.
• I checked the documentation to understand that the issue I am reporting is not normal behavior.

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

• uBO is the only extension.
• uBO uses default lists and settings.
• using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Restore from file fails =>

Normally, when you "restore from file", this notification appears

However, when I try to "restore", nothing happens. No import, no response of any kind from Ublock.

As you will read, I've tried everything, we could think of without success.

I don't have Windows, so somebody else will have to investigate whether there is really an issue with uBO, and if so where in uBO it's failing.
