nvALT not responding on change database to individual files

Using Catalina 10.15.5, just tried new install of nvALT. Opened fine, but when I changed to individual notes and tried to change the database to one on DB, I got the spinning ball. Had to force quit after 10 minutes, now it's not launching. Any ideas?
