How Vanilla counts unread notifications

User A watches a challenge group.
User B posts a discussion.
User B posts a comment.
User B mentions User A (@usera) in another comment.
User A should see 3 notifications in Vanilla. Vanilla resets count of unread notifications to 0 If user

• clicks on Notifications at the top right menu
• clicks on All notifications
• goes to a notification page https://vanilla.topcoder-dev.com/profile/notifications.

'/groups/{id}/member/{userid}' returns count of unread notifications filtered by a group for User.

User can view all notifications https://vanilla.topcoder-dev.com/profile/notifications:

@atelomycterus - Thanks for that. One tweak - would it be possible to use the challenge ID instead of the group ID? The calling application won't necessarily have visibility into the Vanilla structure, so if we use the challenge ID that's one less call that the MFE has to make. Otherwise it will have to first call an API to get the group ID by the challenge ID and then call this API.

@atelomycterus - One more tweak, thanks:

1. Can we use the member handle as an option instead of the user ID? The calling app won't know about Vanilla's user ID, so that'll be another call that it will have to make, which we can avoid. So, instead of https://vanilla.topcoder-dev.com/api/v2/groups/{challenge ID}/member/9, can we do https://vanilla.topcoder-dev.com/api/v2/groups/{challenge ID}/member/TonyJ?
2. We do not need the notification contents right now, but that's likely something we'll need in the near future.
