Output Path on Mac

Whenever compiling the Less file it's default output path is very root of my hard drive, shouldn't this be the root of the project/folder?

Or am I missing something?

There was a typo in the settings json so the plugin was falling back to an empty string as the default save directory - I guess your mac interpreted this as your root directory. I've fixed the typo and changed the default to the root of the project directory. I don't have a mac, so let me know if this has worked for you or not.

Just got back into work and tested it, I've got three test folders on my Desktop and when saving the Less file in one of them it works perfect, saved back to folder root. The other two not so much, in fact I've no idea where it's saving the .css file too...

When you go to Set output directory and the dialog opens asking for a path, where is that relative to? No matter what I try it doesn't seem to save it to anywhere obvious. Maybe it could display the path?

Given it tried to save the less file in your hard drive's root when the file path was set to an empty string, I would assume that all path's are relative to root. Just a guess mind.

I've added some console output to display where a css file has been saved to, if you open the console inside sublime when saving a less file it should help you out.

I've created a new test folder and created and saved a Less file, I've not set the css output path so this should be default, here's the console output:

It's not creating the css file at my mac's root any more, I don't know if it's failing to convert or it's saving elsewhere.

Hmmm, looks like the call to run lessc failed. Do you have lessc installed in your PATH? Essentially what the plugin does is take the two file paths and runs subprocess.Popen(), so in your case python is essentially calling "lessc /Users/evu/Desktop/test5/less/style.less /style.css -x --verbose" inside a terminal. Are you able to run this command manually?

Yep, running "lessc /Users/evu/Desktop/test5/less/style.less ../style.css -x --verbose" saves it to the right place (project folder root) from terminal. If it's just "/style.css" it saves it to the root of my HD though.

EDIT: Just realized that the "output_fallback" branch solves this issue.

I would suggest to set the default directory not to the project folder but to the folder of the .less file. If you just open a .less file without a folder in the sidebar it currently won't work, but this is likely to happen if someone wants to try the plugin - like i did ;)

@1a did using the ouptut_fallback branch work for you too? If so, I'll merge it into master and push it out

@1a I think it doesn't find lessc in your path (lessc in usr/local/bin and don't forget the libs in usr/local/lib, get it here: https://github.com/cloudhead/less.js)

Regarding the paths, from sublime it is only working for me with a full output path specified.

@sen-zo lessc /Users/design/workspace/ma-mobile/less/custom.less > /Users/design/workspace/ma-mobile/custom.css is working from the terminal

@1a If I remove the lessc binary i get the exact same error as you mentioned before

@1a I got the same error. I'm trying to find a way to fix it. lessc is working well in terminal but in sublime it says command not found. But it works well on Ubuntu.
