This helper guarded against running tests with old versions of tune (for method registration issues, not because the tests rely on that functionality). I believe we should be far enough out from that release (over a year) to remove that helper!
Not these are changes are not needed to address the CRAN failure with
packageVersion()noted in tidymodels/workflows#192 that also applied to this package.
