To set up your vagrant box...
git clone git://github.com/thinchat/thin_vagrant.git
cd thin_vagrant
vagrant box add lucid32 http://files.vagrantup.com/lucid32.box
vagrant up
vagrant ssh
Then, inside the vagrant box, run
sudo chef-solo -c /vagrant/chef/solo.rb
