feat(site): second pass over the site - #6
Conversation
The name at the left of the header opened a list of both products. It is now a link to its product's home page, and the other product is the last link in the header: Docs, Changelog, Roadmap, Community, Floe. The docs header has the same links in the same places, and the news banner runs over Thaw's docs. Moving between pages fades the page over and leaves the header where it is. A link or a button changes colour at once under the pointer and fades on the way out. Links within a page glide. All of it is off for a visitor who asks for reduced motion. For the keyboard and screen readers: - Each page has one main landmark. The layout's own was a second one. - "Skip to content" is the first stop on every page. - Boxed controls give by a pixel while they are pressed. The theme switch has three choices: light, dark, and the system's. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
The docs header lines up with the site's header part for part, so nothing moves when a visitor goes from one to the other. The page a reader is on is marked in the sidebar by its colour and a thin line in the accent, with no panel behind it. The cards on an index page and the links to the pages before and after are plain lists. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
The ten features keep their ruled cells and lose their numbers. Everything under them is set open on the page: the names, what Thaw works with, and on Floe's page the marks of who can answer Ask AI. Each name under "Also in Thaw" and "Also in Floe" has a sentence saying what it does, which opens under the name when the pointer rests on it. The sentences are taken from the release notes and the app's own settings. The install boxes work the same way: what an install asks for is named, and each says why under its name. The lines are one component (hover-lines.tsx), modelled on the three lines on Vercel's home page. Nothing is open to begin with, the pointer opens a line and dims the rest, and leaving the list shuts it. A click keeps a line open. On a touch screen a line shows a plus sign and opens by a tap. Also here: - "Without Homebrew" has a button that downloads Thaw from GitHub. - The install box sends a stuck visitor to GitHub issues. - The cube in the hero is sized by the height of the window, so the headline under it stays in view on a short screen. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
Six numbers where there were eight: countries and Discord members are gone. The contributors are a roster in columns with no rules round each. On Built with, what Thaw runs on and its licences are set open, and only "Made with" keeps its grid. The dots on the map that are not lit are easier to see in the light theme. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
What the changelog file lists as not released yet is left out: it has no date and no download. One release is written out in full and the rest are lines that open. A filter shows every release or the stable ones alone. A release shows the pictures of the people its notes name, beside the written-out release and on a release's own page. A name followed by a full stop is now linked as any other is. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
One line runs down the page with a stop for each list, in the order things happen: what has shipped, shut, then what is being finished, then what comes after. The stop the project is at says "You are here". A line above the road names each stop with its count and jumps to it. What people have asked for follows the road. What is being finished is two boxed cards. The later stops are names in columns, and a name opens on its sentence when the pointer rests on it. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
/faq has twelve questions, each answered from what the site and the docs already say. An answer starts with yes, no or the thing to do. Search engines are given the same words as schema.org's FAQPage. The home page ends on the first four and a link to the rest, and the footer has a link to the page. The questions open as the other lines on the site do: the pointer resting on one opens its answer. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
The page says the two things kept in the browser: the theme and a closed banner. The entry for GitHub says the changelog loads contributors' pictures from it. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
It read as part of the header under it. A light wash of the product's orange and a border to match set it apart, and its second sentence is darker so it holds against the tint. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
It stands at the end of the headline, looks at a pointer that comes near and bobs its head when touched. Its drawings move to a file of their own so the footer's bird and this one share them, and the footer leaves its bird out on this page, where it would be on screen twice. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>
next dev rewrites this block on every run, and now writes its heading a level down. Committing what it writes keeps the tree clean. Signed-off-by: René Jiménez <diazdesandi@proton.me>

Keep a focused disclosure open when the pointer leaves.
If a reader hovers over an FAQ answer, tabs to its follow-up link, and moves the pointer out of HoverLines, leave closes the <details> while its link has focus. This interrupts keyboard navigation. Clear hovered on pointer leave, but do not close its element when it contains document.activeElement.

Show an accurate message when there are no releases.
If entries is empty, left is zero and this text directs readers to “Every release”. No filter choice exists in that state. Show a separate “No releases yet” message for an empty changelog.

Keep the profile link when an avatar fails.
If GitHub images are blocked or fail to load, Person returns null. The credited person then disappears from the row, although ReleasePeople still counts that login as shown. Keep the link and render a text or placeholder fallback instead.

Select mobile docs links from the current product.
When a visitor opens /docs/floe on a phone, product remains 'thaw'. This line therefore puts Thaw’s Docs, Changelog, and Roadmap links in the Floe docs menu. Make the menu links pathname-aware, as ProductPages already is for the desktop header.
