# Report Server for .NET: Installation on Docker Container

>important With the current version of the [Report Server for .NET](https://www.telerik.com/report-server) product - [2025 Q1 (19.0.25.211)](https://www.telerik.com/support/whats-new/reporting/release-history/progress-telerik-reporting-2025-q1-19-0-25-211), there is a known problem with the [licensing]({%slug license-key%}) in containers, see ["An error occurred while checking the licenseResult: The value cannot be an empty string. The Report Server for .NET (`RS.NET`) is ready for deployment on Docker Containers. The assets for non-Windows platforms are available as separate resources downloadable from [your Telerik account](https://www.telerik.com/account/downloads/product-download?product=REPSERVER).

This article is a step-by-step tutorial on deploying Telerik Report Server for .NET on a Linux Docker Container with a [Microsoft SQL Server (MsSqlServer) Storage]({%slug storage-settings%}#microsoft-sql-server-mssqlserver) deployed on its own Docker Container based on the image `mcr.microsoft.com/mssql/server:2019-latest` exposed publicly on port `1433`.

No, this article guides you how to install on docker, and there are two options - prebuild images or own images if needed. When is needed to do own images? Give examples in what scenarios is needed to build own image, etc.

I am leaving this comment last, after reviewing the whole article and now understanding how the installation works:
From this section title, it seems that when I do this I am done. This is false. I will be left without service agent. Please look wholistically on the article and put your client's shoes. The whole thing is not well explained and structured. Se my comments and revise the article

Just my 2 cents: since this is a multi-app setup, along with complex requirements, the docs should only show how to do it with a docker-compose.yml. That way we can control the ports, network, env vars and other params.. requiring less support cases for folks who arent that experienced with docker/compose
