Connect Xiaomi Xiaofang s1 cam to a pc using a serial connection

  • Use a serial to usb FTDI-Adapter with 3.3V
  • Connect RX to TX, TX to RX and GND to GND
  • Install a serial terminal client like 'cu', 'picomco' or 'putty'.
  • Confugure the terminal client 115200 N1
  • Power up the cam.

Flash firmware: install bootload from microSD

  • Format your microSD to FAT32. NTFS, EXFAT etc. won't work. Try to use smaller older SD cards like 512 MB or create just a single primary 400 MB partition (using gparted).
  • Download https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks/raw/master/hacks/cfw/xiaofang/cfw-1.0.bin
  • Copy the CFW-Binary from the prevois step to the formatted microSD card and rename it to "demo.bin". There must not be other files on the microSD!
  • Remove the power cable from the camera and plug the microSD card into the camera.
  • Hold down the setup button on the camera while.
  • Plugging in the USB power cable.
  • Keep the setup button pressed for another 20 seconds.
  • Wait until the firmware has finished flashing (like 3 minutes).
  • Remove the microSD card and power up the camera.

Boot from custom software: Boot with usb

  • Delete the 'demo.bin' from the microSD or format a new microSD to FAT32. Try to use smaller older SD cards like 512 MB or create just a single primary 400 MB partition (using gparted).
  • Clone the https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks repository.
  • Copy everything from "firmware_mod" folder into the root of the microSD.
  • Copy config/wpa_supplicant.conf.dist to config/wpa_supplicant.conf
  • Modify the file config/wpa_supplicant.conf on the microSD card to configure the wifi-settings.
  • Insert the microSD card and power up the camera.
