Query about PRNG choice

Disclaimer: I am personally not too knowledgeable about PRNG algorithms. I only have some basic experience on this topic


I do not quite understand for why we're choosing to use ChaCha12 as our PRNG of choice. While I realise that using CSPRNG would be rather slow and just overkill, there are a lot of other commonly used non-secure PRNGs. What is the reasoning for such a specific choice?
