nano for Chrome

A browser extension that lets you edit text areas in webpages with a text editor program—such as nano.

Add to Chrome

Installation

Requires chrome-shell for running shell commands.

Nightly builds

Download the Nightly builds.

Build from source

Install Inkscape to build the images.

git clone https://github.com/taupiqueur/chrome-nano.git
cd chrome-nano
make build

Load an unpacked extension

1. Navigate to chrome://extensions.
2. Enable “Developer mode”.
3. Click “Load unpacked” and select the extension directory.

Allow native messaging with the shell application

Copy the extension ID and run the following in your terminal.

chrome-shell install [--target=<platform>] [<extension-id>...]

Possible targets are chrome, chrome-dev, chrome-beta, chrome-canary and chromium.
