Roadmap and new maintainers

Hi, tsimp for me is the best choice for now with concept points. It's simple, enough fast.

But at this time tsimp has some bugs and some requested features.

I think we can add new maintainers to boost development since @isaacs says that he is working on other project with more priority and ready to add new maintainers to tsimp

@gfx, @bennycode, @noahAndrews How do you feel about this?

I have a very low level of suitable competence to take on such a project, but perhaps in the future I will also be able to join

As i see (maybe wrong) tsimp is still a only one loader that supports type checking

Also TS is in process of rewriting its compiler to Go lang so typechecking and compilation will be significantly faster in the near future

Based on this, I think it would be very cool to ehnahce this project, fix some bugs etc

TypeScript 7 will have a different compiler API (which hasn't been stabilized yet) from the current one. I'm not sure if they're planning to stabilize it before launch or not.

Since the caching stuff in tsimp has proven to be so unreliable and it will be less necessary with the faster compiler, hopefully we see a much simpler successor to tsimp once Typescript 7 has a compiler API.

Until then, I don't think it makes much sense to try to improve tsimp as it exists now.

Finally, Corsa/TypeScript 7.0 will not support the existing Strada API. The Corsa API is still a work in progress, and no stable tooling integration exists for it. That means any tools like linters, formatters, or IDE extensions that rely on the Strada API will not work with Corsa.

@ItsHarper don't think it is a problem, for example tsgo is already supported via experimental flag in Deno

To be honest, I think it's best to just wait for Microsoft to deliver a native go compiler. It's going to be much more reliable and better supported, and of comparable speed, if not better. In the meantime, if you need high speed without type checking, there's lots of options. Personally, I'm a fan of just using the type-stripping option in Node.js, but Bun and Deno are also great choices.

If tsgo turns out to also possibly benefit from some of the techniques explored here, then we can always pick it back up. Otherwise, I feel like this project is a nice idea, but sort of a dead end, ultimately.

For me, type checking in the runtime environment is important thing and key feature of tsimp - no other loader or runtime provides this except perhaps Deno
