Syntax highlighting is wrong

I think it's pretty obvious if you take a look. I'd be happy to dig into it myself, but don't understand how it works. Can someone point me to a tutorial or give me a crash course?

Sorry, it's not obvious to me, but I am also in the minority and don't really notice/care for colors. Can you explain further or provide a screenshot?

The parens in func() affect the param name and result type colors:

Same for braces:

There are others that I can't seem to find at the moment. I'll post here next time I see them.

I have also noticed broken syntax highlighting when a function's return signature carries on to a new line

Note the two colors in the typeVars variable near the bottom:
