dotspacemacs-startup-banner with a file path?

Is it possible to use dotspacemacs-startup-banner with a path to a plain text file? I tried with dotspacemacs-startup-banner "/path/to/my/banner.txt" but it still displays the default Spacemacs banner.

A string value must be a PATH to an IMAGE format supported by your Emacs build. If you want to use your banner.txt simply move it to the yourEmacsConfigPath/core/banners directory and change the name of your banner.txt file to something like 800-banner.txt and add the integer to dotspacemacs-startup-banner 800

I am sorry. I should have been more specific. Yes, the answer to your question is No. You cannot have a path to a txt file. It is only used for a path to IMAGE
